Two Killed as Light Plane Crashes Into House in Germany

Emergency responders at the scene after a light aircraft crashed into the roof of a house in Ganderkesee, Germany.

Two men were killed on Saturday after a light aircraft crashed into the roof of a residential house in northwestern Germany, authorities have confirmed.

The aircraft went down in Ganderkesee, near the city of Oldenburg, slamming head-on into the pitched roof of a home in a residential neighbourhood.

Police initially reported that one of the occupants had died while the second was missing. However, after an extensive recovery operation, authorities confirmed that both men were killed in the crash.

The victims, aged 65 and 77, were residents of Bremen, according to police.

Officials said the recovery process was lengthy and complex because the wreckage became lodged in the roof of the building.

After the aircraft was removed, residents who had been evacuated as a precaution were allowed to return to their homes.

No casualties were reported among people on the ground.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
