The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reaffirmed that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ends today, Sunday, July 26, urging eligible Nigerians to complete their registration or update their voter details before the deadline.
In a message shared on its official X account on Sunday, the electoral commission reminded citizens that voter registration is a key requirement for participating in the 2027 general election.
“Time is running out, but there’s still an opportunity to make your voice count. Register to vote or update your voter information before the close of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) today, Sunday, 26 July 2026,” INEC said.
The commission advised Nigerians who are yet to register to use its online CVR portal or visit any of its state or local government offices before the exercise officially closes.
INEC noted that the registration exercise also allows eligible voters to apply for voter transfers, correct personal information and replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The nationwide registration exercise began with online pre-registration in August 2025, while physical registration commenced on August 25 of the same year.
By the end of the first phase in December 2025, the commission recorded 2,572,054 completed registrations, including 1,503,832 online registrations and 1,068,222 completed through physical enrollment.
The second phase, which ran from January 5 to April 17, 2026, added another 3,748,704 registered voters nationwide.
INEC later commenced the third phase of the exercise in May and extended the deadline by two weeks in July to allow more eligible Nigerians to register.
With the exercise ending today, the commission urged prospective voters not to miss the final opportunity, stressing that only registered voters will be eligible to participate in the 2027 general election.
