The House of Representatives has summoned Nigeria’s service chiefs and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, over the growing security challenges across the country.
The decision was taken during plenary on Tuesday after lawmakers adopted a motion sponsored by Sulaiman Gumi, who represents Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency in Zamfara State.
Lawmakers expressed concern over the rising wave of attacks by bandits and terrorists, which have left many Nigerians dead and others kidnapped in different parts of the country.
The House is seeking explanations from the country’s top security officials on efforts being made to tackle the worsening situation.
The summons comes amid increasing calls for President Bola Tinubu to reshuffle the nation’s security leadership as insecurity continues to pose a major challenge across the country.
