Zenith Bank Plc has marked the 2026 World Environment Day with a two-phase environmental clean-up exercise across Lagos, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.
The initiative began on June 3 with a street clean-up along Ajose Adeogun Street in Victoria Island, where bank employees cleared waste and educated residents on proper waste disposal.
The second phase took place on June 4 at the Falomo Waterways in Ikoyi. Conducted in partnership with the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), the exercise focused on removing debris from the waterways and promoting a cleaner environment.

Speaking on the initiative, Zenith Bank’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Adaora Umeoji, said environmental sustainability remains a key part of the bank’s operations.
She noted that the clean-up exercises demonstrate the bank’s commitment to protecting communities, supporting climate action and encouraging collective responsibility for the environment.
According to her, Zenith Bank will continue to align its operations with global environmental standards while supporting a more sustainable future for Nigeria and Africa.
The bank said it remains focused on integrating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles into its operations through green initiatives, energy efficiency projects and community development programmes.
