Radda: APC Will Seek Re-election on Achievements, Not New Promises

Governor Dikko Radda inaugurates APC Zalla Movement coordinators across Katsina's 34 LGAs and 361 wards.

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda says his administration will seek voters’ support for a second term based on its record of performance rather than making fresh promises ahead of the 2027 elections.

Radda spoke on Thursday at the inauguration of APC Zalla Movement coordinators across Katsina State’s 34 local government areas and 361 wards at People’s Square in Katsina.

According to a statement issued by the Katsina State Government, the inauguration was aimed at strengthening the APC’s grassroots structures under the leadership of Dr Bala Nuhu Kankia.

The governor said the projects and programmes implemented by his administration had put the government in a position to approach the electorate with its record of achievements.

“Today, the people are no longer looking only at promises. In the next election, we will show the people what we have done, not make new promises,” Radda said.

He said development projects had reached communities across the state and claimed that every constituency had benefited from at least one intervention by his administration.

“In all the 361 constituencies in Katsina State, there is no constituency without projects from this administration,” he said.

Radda Tasks Zalla Movement With Grassroots Mobilisation

Radda described the inauguration of the Zalla Movement coordinators as an important step towards strengthening cooperation between the organisation and existing APC structures.

He urged the newly inaugurated leaders to remain committed, self-reliant and focused while working with party stakeholders to strengthen the APC at the grassroots.

The governor also tasked the organisation with sustaining sensitisation and awareness campaigns by taking information about government programmes and projects directly to communities.

He assured the movement of government support and announced plans to provide vehicles to its three zonal structures to facilitate their operations and grassroots mobilisation.

Radda also urged APC leaders and supporters to work collectively to protect and strengthen the mandate given to the administration by voters.

“We will continue to do everything possible to fulfil the mandate we have received from the people. I urge all of us to support this initiative and work together for its success,” he said.

The governor commended the late Dr Bala Nuhu Kankia for establishing the organisation and contributing to the development of the party’s political structures.

He said expanding the movement’s activities to local government and constituency levels would further strengthen grassroots mobilisation.

APC Leaders Back Grassroots Structure

Former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, urged the newly inaugurated coordinators to remain committed to strengthening the APC at all levels.

He said a strong and stable party structure would support the continued implementation of development programmes across Katsina State.

The Katsina State APC Chairman, Bishir Gambo Saulawa, also commended the late Kankia for establishing the organisation, describing it as a platform for strengthening the party and increasing awareness of the achievements of Governor Radda and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Saulawa urged the newly inaugurated local government and constituency chairmen to work closely with APC leaders to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.

The Director-General of the APC Zalla Movement, Dr Bala Nuhu Kankia, thanked supporters for the inauguration and said the organisation would promote APC policies and programmes while highlighting government projects across Katsina.

Kankia said the movement would take information about government interventions, including the Community Development Programme (CDP), Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA) initiatives, and programmes in health, education, agriculture and security, directly to communities.

He commended Radda’s development efforts in urban and rural areas and pledged the movement’s support in communicating the administration’s achievements to residents.

The event was attended by Dangiwa; Principal Private Secretary to the Governor Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; members of the Katsina State Executive Council; senior politicians; political advisers; APC leaders; youth and women leaders; party supporters and members of the public.
