Zenith Bank Plc will launch the maiden edition of its Girl-Child Empowerment Programme on October 12, 2026, introducing an initiative designed to equip young girls with the confidence, knowledge and skills to pursue their educational and career ambitions.
The virtual event, themed “Banking On Her Tomorrow,” is the brainchild of the bank’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dame Dr Adaora Umeoji, OON, the first woman to lead the financial institution as GMD/CEO.

Scheduled for 11 a.m., the programme will take place a day after the International Day of the Girl Child, observed globally on October 11.
According to the bank, the initiative will bring together experts from different fields to share insights and practical guidance to help girls navigate educational choices, explore career opportunities and prepare for leadership roles.
The programme will also highlight opportunities in skills development and mentorship, while encouraging participants to recognise their potential, expand their aspirations and make informed decisions about their futures.
Zenith Bank said the initiative is intended to become an annual platform supporting the development and empowerment of girls.
Building on Women and Girls’ Empowerment Initiatives
The programme builds on Zenith Bank’s existing investments in initiatives focused on women’s development, financial inclusion and empowerment.
These include its annual International Women’s Day Seminar, sole sponsorship of the Zenith Women’s Basketball League, the Women of Honour Awards organised in partnership with the Ford Foundation, and the Pad-a-Queen Initiative.
The bank also operates Z-Woman, a women-focused empowerment programme that supports women-owned and women-led businesses through specialised funding, capacity building and networking opportunities.
Together, the initiatives reflect the bank’s stated commitment to supporting women and girls at different stages of their lives and contributing to national development.
