The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers and dismantled an alleged kidnapping hideout in Dogon Pako Village, Ikara Local Government Area.
The operation was conducted on August 11 following information from a kidnapping victim who escaped from captivity, alongside intelligence provided by members of the public.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the escaped victim gave investigators a detailed description of the house where the victim was allegedly held.
Acting on the information, the Divisional Police Officer in Ikara mobilised police operatives and members of the Vigilante Service to raid the location.
Six suspects were arrested during the operation.
The police said one of the suspects was allegedly the caretaker of the hideout, while another was identified as the owner of the house where the victim was reportedly held.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigators work to determine their individual roles and identify other members of the alleged kidnapping network.
The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, CP Muhammad Rabiu, commended the operatives and members of the public whose information contributed to the operation.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements and activities to the nearest police formation.
Rabiu also warned residents to be alert to criminal elements who may use residential properties as hideouts or holding facilities for kidnapped victims.
He stressed that community vigilance and timely intelligence-sharing remained critical to dismantling kidnapping networks in the state.
