Katsina Highlights Tinubu Support as NEC Team Reviews Development Projects

Governor Dikko Radda receives the NEC Implementation Monitoring Committee in Katsina.

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has credited the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda for some of the development projects implemented across the state.

Radda spoke on Thursday when the National Economic Council (NEC) Implementation Monitoring Committee visited Katsina to assess the implementation of key projects and NEC resolutions.

According to a statement issued by the Katsina State Government, the delegation was led by Mr. Daniel Ikara of the NEC Secretariat, while Katsina State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Malik Anas, led the team to the Governor.

Ikara said the monitoring exercise was designed to assess the implementation of NEC resolutions and flagship projects and determine their impact on residents.

Welcoming the delegation, Radda said the state had recorded progress across several sectors and expressed confidence that the committee would see the scale of the work during its field visits.

“Four days in Katsina will not be enough to see all the works we have done.”

The Governor attributed the progress to collaboration with the Federal Government and support from President Tinubu.

“What we have achieved in Katsina would not have been possible without the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

Roads, Healthcare and Human Capital

Radda highlighted more than nine major road projects completed in Katsina metropolis, alongside urban renewal initiatives in Daura and Funtua.

He said more than 250 of the state’s 361 primary healthcare facilities had also been renovated, while several general hospitals had been established or upgraded.

The administration, he added, has employed more than 11,000 workers, including teachers and healthcare personnel, to strengthen public services.

“We have also employed more than 11,000 workers, including teachers and healthcare personnel, as part of our efforts to strengthen human capital and improve service delivery,” he said.

Over 400 Tractors Deployed for Mechanised Farming

Agriculture was another major area highlighted by the Governor.

Radda said Katsina had established an Agricultural Mechanisation Centre equipped with more than 400 tractors to support farmers and expand mechanised agriculture across the state.

He also cited fertiliser interventions and the Community Development Programme (CDP) as measures aimed at increasing economic opportunities and accelerating development at the grassroots.

The NEC monitoring team specifically expressed satisfaction with the agricultural mechanisation initiatives inspected during its visit.

Katsina Expands Renewable Energy Projects

The Governor also highlighted investments in renewable energy, including the revitalisation of the Lambar Rimi Wind Farm and the addition of a 10MW solar plant to the existing 10MW wind facility.

According to Radda, more than 30MW of renewable energy has been deployed across public hospitals, schools and water facilities.

He said 1MW solar plants and mini-grids had also been installed at the Government House, State Secretariat Complex and General Muhammadu Buhari House.

The projects, he explained, are intended to reduce dependence on diesel generators, lower operational costs and improve electricity reliability at critical public facilities.

Katsina General Hospital also has a dedicated 300KW solar power system under the broader mini-grid programme, the Governor said.

Other projects highlighted included pipeline water schemes, the Katsina Dialysis Centre and investments in education.

Digital and Public Sector Reforms

Radda also cited the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA), KATDICT and public service reforms among initiatives aimed at supporting businesses, advancing digital transformation and improving government service delivery.

“These are only some of the projects we have implemented. There are many more interventions across the State which the Committee will have the opportunity to see during its field visits,” he said.

On security, the Governor said his administration had strengthened the Katsina Community Watch Corps with operational equipment, including nine armoured personnel carriers and several Hilux patrol vehicles.

NEC Team Praises Projects Inspected

The NEC monitoring team said its initial observations in Katsina were encouraging.

Ikara said the committee had inspected some projects and was particularly impressed by the state’s agricultural mechanisation programme and other development interventions.

“We have seen some of the projects on the ground, and we are impressed with what we have seen, particularly the agricultural mechanisation initiatives and other development interventions,” Ikara said.

He said the exercise would provide an opportunity to assess the implementation of NEC resolutions and flagship projects while strengthening cooperation between federal and state authorities.

The Katsina visit forms part of the fifth phase of the NEC Implementation Monitoring Committee’s nationwide exercise, covering states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The monitoring team is expected to continue its field assessment of projects and interventions across Katsina State.
