The Anambra State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with separate cases involving alleged murder and child abuse across the state.
The arrests followed viral videos circulating on social media and intelligence provided by members of the public.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
According to the police, investigations were launched after authorities intercepted videos showing the exhumation of a corpse in Nkpor and another depicting a 10-year-old boy with severe injuries across his body.
Suspect Arrested Over Alleged Murder and Secret Burial
Police said one of the suspects, 33-year-old Ifechukwu Okechukwu, is being investigated over the alleged murder and secret burial of his 23-year-old girlfriend.
Authorities said the case was reported following credible information supplied by concerned residents, which led to his arrest.
Police operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department have since taken over the investigation.
The statement said:
“The first suspect in custody, Ifechukwu Okechukwu ‘M’ aged 33 years is being investigated for the alleged murder and secret burial of his 23-year old girlfriend.
“The case was reported following credible information received from concerned members of the public, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
“Police Operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department have taken over the Case and commenced detailed inquiries to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that justice is served.”
Three Others Arrested Over Child Abuse
In a separate case, police arrested three suspects over the alleged abuse of a 10-year-old boy in Odume Layout, Isiowulu.
The suspects are:
- Chukwudi Chukwuyere, 40
- Chisom Chukwuyere, 30
- Arum Goodluck, 16
Police said investigations revealed that the victim had suffered serious injuries.
During questioning, one of the suspects reportedly admitted to inflicting burns on the child.
The statement said:
“During interrogation, Mrs Chisom confessed to having used burning plastic to inflict burns on the victim.”
Authorities confirmed that the child has been provided with the necessary medical attention and support while investigators continue gathering evidence for prosecution.

The Anambra State Police Command praised residents for their vigilance and cooperation, noting that public support has been instrumental in exposing criminal activities.
Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice is served and urged residents to continue reporting suspicious activities.
Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
The statement added:
“The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reassures residents that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property, enforcing the law, and ensuring that perpetrators of crimes are brought to justice.
“The CP urged members of the public to continue supporting the Police and other security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and criminal conduct through the Command’s emergency lines and the nearest Police Station.”
