The announcement reinforces Nigeria’s strong presence at the festival, with Omah Lay and Victony also included among the artistes billed to perform on the main stage.

Nigeria Maintains Strong Festival Presence

Nigeria has remained prominent on the Afro Nation Portugal programme since the festival launched in Portimão in 2019.

Burna Boy was among the major acts at the inaugural edition and returned for subsequent editions in 2022, 2023, 2025 and 2026.

Davido has also featured prominently, appearing at the 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2025 editions before returning as a 2027 headliner.

Wizkid performed at the 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2026 editions, while Asake headlined in 2024 and 2026.

Rema headlined the 2024 edition, while Tems was among the headline acts in 2025.

Other Nigerian artistes who have performed at the festival include Omah Lay, Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr, Fireboy DML, Adekunle Gold, Wande Coal, Young Jonn, Darkoo, Victony, Qing Madi, Shallipopi and P-Square.

The 2027 announcement therefore continues the festival’s established Nigerian representation, with Davido and Rema leading the headline bill and Omah Lay and Victony also included in the main-stage programme.

Afro Nation Returns To Portimão

Afro Nation Portugal was launched in Portimão in 2019 and has developed into an international festival centred on Afrobeats, amapiano and African music and culture.

The 2027 edition is scheduled for June, earlier than recent editions that have generally taken place in July.

The festival is restricted to attendees aged 18 and above, with valid identification required.

Further artistes and festival details are expected to be announced ahead of the event.
