Barcelona have signed Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal on a deal running until 2029, completing a move for the striker after failing to secure Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish champions confirmed the transfer on Tuesday, with Spanish media reporting that Barcelona paid Arsenal around €10 million ($11.5 million) for the 29-year-old.
“Barcelona and Arsenal have reached a deal for the Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus,” the Catalan club said in a statement.
Jesus arrives as Barcelona look to strengthen an attack weakened by the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres earlier this summer.
Barcelona had pursued Alvarez throughout the summer but were unable to convince Atletico Madrid to negotiate with them for the Argentine forward.
The arrival of Jesus now gives Barcelona another experienced attacking option as they prepare for the new season.
