Segun Ogunwuyi, Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has resigned from his appointment, effective Monday, October 12, 2026.

Ogunwuyi conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated October 12, in which he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state and work with the governor’s administration.

“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” he wrote.

He said he remained proud of the administration’s accomplishments in advancing the state’s growth and development.

“I remain immensely proud of what we have collectively accomplished in advancing the growth, development and prosperity of our dear State. As I take this decision, I do so with profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve, with confidence in the continued progress of Oyo State,” the letter stated.

Ogunwuyi also reaffirmed his loyalty to the state and the country, asking Makinde to accept his assurances of highest esteem.

“Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest esteem and unwavering loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.

Ogunwuyi, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, is among several aides of Makinde who have resigned from the administration in the past two months.

His resignation comes amid the recent departures of political appointees from the state government. However, no reason for his decision was stated in the resignation letter.
