The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.
According to a notice published on the commission’s website, the application portal opened on Monday, July 20, and will remain accessible until Monday, July 27.
INEC said the recruitment is intended to strengthen its capacity in electoral administration, voter registration, data management and election logistics to support the effective delivery of its constitutional responsibilities.
Applications must be submitted online through the commission’s recruitment portal by creating an applicant account, completing the application form and uploading the required credentials.
The commission also warned that the application process is completely free and cautioned applicants against submitting false information or forged documents, noting that offenders will be disqualified and may face prosecution.
Available Positions
The vacancies are divided into three categories:
Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12)
Available roles include:
- Accountant
- Clinical Officer
- Lawyer
- ICT Officer
- Engineer
- Quantity Surveyor
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, while some positions may require a master’s degree. Relevant professional certifications—including NBA, COREN, NSE, NIQS, ICAN, ANAN or CPN—are required where applicable, alongside at least two years of post-qualification experience, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and strong analytical, communication and ICT skills.
Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences. They must also possess an NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate, demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office and other ICT tools, and have knowledge of data management and record keeping.
Executive Officer (Registration Officer) – Grade Level 07
Applicants are required to possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent from a recognised institution, with good computer, communication, organisational and data management skills.
General Requirements
Applicants must:
- Present a valid certificate of state of origin signed by the chairman or secretary of their local government.
- Be certified physically and mentally fit by a government medical officer.
- Be no older than 35 years at the time of application.
- Have no criminal conviction.
- Be willing to work in any part of Nigeria.
- Demonstrate integrity, discipline and commitment to public service.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should:
- Visit the INEC recruitment portal.
- Create an applicant account using their personal details, email address and National Identification Number (NIN).
- Verify their email address.
- Select their preferred cadre and vacancy.
- Upload all required documents, including a passport photograph, birth certificate or declaration of age, O’Level result, academic certificates, local government identification certificate and NYSC certificate where applicable.
- Review the application before submitting it online.
INEC noted that applicants cannot change their selected vacancy after submission and added that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next stage of the recruitment process.
