Radda signs N828.6bn 2027 Katsina budget into law

Katsina Governor Dikko Radda signs 2027 N828bn appropriation law

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has signed the state’s N828.58 billion 2027 Appropriation Bill into law, charging ministries, departments and agencies to ensure timely implementation of the budget.

Radda signed the appropriation law on Wednesday, September 30, after the Katsina State House of Assembly approved the spending plan. Contemporary reports also confirm the N828.58 billion figure and the governor’s signing of the budget on September 30.

According to a statement issued by the Katsina State Government, the approved budget is worth N828,578,844,091.48, with the governor describing it as a “people’s budget” developed from needs identified across 361 wards in the state’s 34 local government areas.

Radda said the budget passed through three levels of scrutiny: grassroots needs assessment, defence by ministries and agencies before the governor, and legislative consideration and passage by the State House of Assembly.

The governor commended the Assembly for approving the budget early, noting that the 2027 appropriation was signed on September 30, compared with November 17, 2025, when the 2026 budget was signed.

N637.85bn allocated to capital expenditure

Presenting the appropriation law, Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahaya Daura, said the legislature approved N190,726,262,820.44 for recurrent expenditure and N637,852,581,271.03 for capital expenditure.

The capital allocation therefore accounts for the larger share of the total appropriation, with the recurrent component funding the routine operations and obligations of government.

Radda thanked the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning for the early preparation of the proposal and directed implementing agencies to ensure that projects and programmes under the law are executed on schedule.

The governor also called for peace in the state and prayed for the success of the All Progressives Congress at all levels in the forthcoming elections.

The statement said Radda also congratulated Tasiu Musa Maigari, a lawmaker representing Katsina, on his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to The Gambia and wished him success in the new assignment.

Speaker says Radda first governor to sign 2027 budget

Daura congratulated Radda on what he described as the governor becoming the first governor in Nigeria to sign the 2027 Appropriation Law.

He reaffirmed the State House of Assembly’s loyalty to the APC administration and appealed to residents to continue supporting the government’s development efforts.

The signing ceremony was attended by the state Chief Judge, Grand Kadi, Deputy Speaker and principal officers of the Assembly, Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service, APC chairman, members of the State Executive Council, Clerk of the House and other senior Assembly officials.

The development formally establishes the state’s 2027 appropriation as its spending framework for the coming fiscal year.

The statement was signed by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina State, and dated September 30, 2026.
