Raphinha has been handed Brazil’s iconic No. 10 shirt, formally taking over the number following Neymar Jr.’s retirement from international football.

The Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed the Barcelona winger’s new squad number ahead of the Seleção’s upcoming friendlies against Australia and India.

Raphinha is expected to make his first appearance wearing the No. 10 shirt against Australia in Townsville on Friday, in Brazil’s first fixture since their Round-of-16 exit at the 2026 World Cup.

The move marks a significant change for Brazil, with the No. 10 shirt now passing to a new generation after Neymar wore it across four World Cup tournaments.

Neymar, Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 80 goals in 130 appearances, confirmed his retirement from international football after the World Cup. The 34-year-old had previously said his time with the national team had come to an end.

Raphinha has worn the shirt on previous occasions when Neymar was unavailable, including during World Cup qualifying. He will now take permanent ownership of the number as Brazil begins a new era under head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The CBF also confirmed the rest of the squad numbers for the upcoming fixtures. Endrick will wear No. 9, previously assigned to Matheus Cunha, while Estêvão takes No. 11 and Vinícius Júnior retains No. 7. Goalkeeper Hugo Souza will wear No. 1.

The No. 10 shirt carries particular weight in Brazilian football, having previously been worn by legendary figures including Pelé, Zico, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaká and Neymar.

Raphinha now joins that lineage as Brazil prepares for its next international cycle.

His first match as the Seleção’s official No. 10 will come against Australia in Townsville, with India also scheduled to face Brazil during the current international window.
