Uba Sani Approves ₦3.659bn For Kaduna Retirees

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani approves ₦3.659 billion pension payments for retirees

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has approved ₦3.659 billion for the payment of pensions, gratuities and death benefits to retirees and families of deceased civil servants across the state and its Local Government Services.

The latest approval covers 1,339 beneficiaries under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) and Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), according to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki.

The commissioner said the latest payment brings the total pension payments made by the Uba Sani administration since May 2023 to ₦21.455 billion, benefiting 9,683 retirees and eligible families.

Of the 1,339 beneficiaries covered by the latest approval, 210 Local Government retirees will receive ₦515 million under the Defined Benefit Scheme.

Under the Contributory Pension Scheme, ₦3.144 billion has been approved for 1,129 beneficiaries, comprising 402 retirees from the State Service and 727 retirees from Local Government Councils.

Maiyaki said the latest intervention is part of the administration’s efforts to address outstanding pension liabilities while strengthening the sustainability of Kaduna State’s pension system.

He added that the payment forms part of broader public financial management reforms focused on fiscal discipline, transparency and accountability, with the aim of creating a more predictable framework for meeting the state’s pension obligations.

“Governor Uba Sani remains committed to ensuring that those who devoted their productive years to the service of Kaduna State receive their legitimate entitlements with dignity,” Maiyaki said.

“Pension payment is not a favour; it is an obligation to our retirees and the families of deceased public servants,” he added.

The commissioner reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to sustaining pension reforms, reducing outstanding liabilities and improving retirement security for public servants in Kaduna State.
