Ogun Police Arrest Three Suspected Child Kidnappers Rescue Three Minors

Ogun police officers rescue three children and arrest suspected kidnappers

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects believed to be members of a gang involved in the alleged abduction and sale of children, while rescuing three minors from a residence linked to one of the suspects.

The breakthrough followed an intelligence-led investigation into a reported case of child stealing by detectives attached to the Ibafo Division.

According to a statement issued in Abeokuta by the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, investigators first arrested one of the suspects, identified as Kikelomo Jimoh.

During questioning, Jimoh allegedly confessed and led detectives to the residence of another suspect, where the three children were found and rescued.

Police said one of the children had allegedly been sold for ₦500,000.

“The swift intervention of the police ensured the timely rescue of the three children, who are now safe. The suspects remain in custody,” Babaseyi said.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The police said the investigation would establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime, determine the individual roles of the suspects and identify any other persons connected to the alleged criminal network.

Police Seek Public Vigilance

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, commended the Ibafo detectives for their swift response and investigative work.

He assured residents that the command would continue efforts to detect and dismantle criminal networks targeting children and other vulnerable people.

Ojajuni urged parents, guardians, community leaders, schools, transport operators and other members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements, unexplained child disappearances, unusual custody arrangements or activities linked to the alleged sale, abduction or exploitation of children.
