The Katsina State House of Assembly has pledged to give speedy consideration and passage to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s 2027 Appropriation Bill.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, made the commitment on Tuesday during the governor’s budget presentation at the Assembly Chamber in Katsina.

Daura described the occasion as significant, noting that the proposed budget would be the final budget of Governor Radda’s first tenure and the last to be considered by the 8th Assembly.

He said the Executive and Legislature had maintained a cordial working relationship over the past four years, contributing to progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, security and human capital development.

“On behalf of Honourable Members, I appreciate Your Excellency for your support to this House. We also commend you for the developmental projects and programs across the state,” Daura said.

The Speaker said the 8th Assembly had passed more than 50 Bills, considered several motions and carried out oversight functions in the interest of Katsina residents.

He assured the governor that lawmakers would carefully study the 2027 budget and pass it within the shortest possible time to enable the government to continue delivering services to the people.

Daura also declared the Assembly’s support for Radda’s bid for a second term, while expressing support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a personal remark, the Speaker said the occasion marked the last time he would receive Governor Radda as Speaker of the 8th Assembly. He thanked God for the opportunity to serve and appreciated the governor for his cooperation and understanding.

He urged returning lawmakers and new members of the next Assembly to remain united and committed to Katsina’s development, while maintaining a harmonious relationship with the Executive in the interest of the people.

Daura concluded by praying for God’s guidance and protection for the governor and victory in his second-term bid.

The budget presentation was attended by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Garba Faskari; former Deputy Governor Tukur Jikamshi; Col. Abdulmumini Aminu (rtd.), former Governor of Borno State; members of the State Executive Council; traditional rulers; heads of government agencies; party leaders and other stakeholders.
