Katsina Governor Dikko Umaru Radda speaking during a meeting with Danja stakeholders

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has pledged to establish a General Hospital in Danja Local Government Area in 2027 as part of efforts to expand access to healthcare services across the state.

Governor Radda made the commitment on Wednesday when stakeholders from Danja visited the Government House in Katsina to appreciate his administration following the turbaning of the District Head of Dabai, Alhaji Gambo Abdullahi, as Dausayin Katsina by the Emir of Katsina.

According to a statement issued by the Katsina State Government, the governor said the proposed hospital had been captured in the state’s 2027 budget.

“We will establish a General Hospital in Danja next year. It is in our 2027 budget. This is part of our commitment to bringing quality healthcare services closer to our people and improving healthcare delivery across the state,” he said.

Radda said the hospital would complement ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve access to medical services, particularly for residents of rural communities.

He also assured the Danja delegation that the government would consider the concerns and demands presented by the community and take appropriate steps to address them.

Radda backs traditional institutions

The governor also used the meeting to reaffirm the importance of traditional institutions in maintaining peace, security and social cohesion across Katsina State.

He described traditional rulers as indispensable partners in governance, particularly in promoting unity, resolving communal disputes and ensuring peaceful coexistence.

“We recognise the important role traditional institutions play in maintaining peace, security and unity in our communities. They are critical partners in governance, and we will continue to support them in carrying out their responsibilities,” Radda said.

He said his administration had strengthened the traditional institution by improving the ranks and salaries of Dagattai and District Heads, while providing allowances to Village Heads to enhance their ability to carry out their responsibilities.

The governor further assured residents of Danja that his administration would continue to implement projects and programmes targeted at addressing the needs of communities across the state.

Danja stakeholders commend government

Earlier, the Chairman of Danja Local Government Area, Rabo Tambaya, thanked the governor for what he described as numerous development interventions in Danja and other parts of Katsina State.

Tambaya specifically commended the administration’s efforts in infrastructure development, social services and programmes aimed at improving the wellbeing and socio-economic conditions of residents.

He also praised Radda for recognising the contributions of traditional institutions to peace, security and community development.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Economy, Yakubu Nuhu Danja, presented the concerns, requests and priority needs of the local government area.

He appealed to the governor to consider the demands presented by the delegation and take appropriate measures to address the challenges confronting Danja.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, members of the Katsina State Executive Council and other senior government officials.
