Popular Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has died at the age of 40.
The news of her passing was announced on Wednesday by fellow actor Alesh Sanni in an emotional tribute shared on Instagram.
Mourning the actress, Sanni described Osoba as a dear friend and recalled the memorable moments they shared together.
“Couldn’t sleep since last night, it’s well. Rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing time and good memories together, till we meet again. I really dunno what to say mehn, gosh,” he wrote.
Another actress, Adeyemo Seilat, also paid tribute to Osoba, expressing sadness over the loss.
“Sigh! I hate to hear about the death of young people. Life is vanity! Rest in peace Tope Osoba. May you find eternal rest,” she wrote on Instagram.
The cause of Osoba’s death had not been disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
Her passing comes about two years after she publicly revealed her battle with cancer and appealed for support toward her treatment.
Following her recovery, Osoba announced her return to the movie industry on August 4, 2025, describing the experience as a life-changing journey that transformed her personally and professionally.
“Dear beloved fans, supporters, and loved ones, I’m Temitope Osoba, and after my cancer experience, I’m excited to announce my reintroduction. This journey has been a turning point, leading to my rebranding, reshaping, and rebuilding. I’m emerging stronger, more resilient, and more passionate about sharing my story and inspiring others,” she wrote.
She said the new phase of her career would focus on healing, personal growth and cancer awareness while supporting others facing similar health challenges.
Osoba also thanked her management team for standing by her during her recovery and expressed her readiness to take on acting roles, endorsements and event collaborations as she worked to revive her career.
Widely recognised for her performances in Yoruba-language Nollywood films, Osoba earned admiration from colleagues and fans for her talent and dedication to the industry.
