A fire broke out on Sunday at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, triggering an emergency response by aviation authorities.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) was immediately deployed to the scene to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading.
Emergency responders worked to secure the terminal and ensure the safety of passengers, airport workers and facilities.
FAAN confirmed that no deaths or injuries had been recorded as of the time of its announcement.
“The FAAN Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation,” the agency said.
The authority said the cause of the fire had yet to be determined, adding that efforts were ongoing to fully extinguish the blaze and assess the extent of any damage.
FAAN also assured the public that further updates would be provided as emergency operations and investigations continue.
The Murtala Muhammed International Airport remains Nigeria’s busiest aviation hub, serving thousands of domestic and international passengers daily.
