Governor Radda Mourns Former Finance Minister, Abubakar Alhaji

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda pays tribute to former Finance Minister Abubakar Alhaji.

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of former Minister of Finance and Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, describing him as one of Nigeria’s finest public servants whose legacy of integrity and patriotism will endure for generations.

Abubakar Alhaji died on Thursday in Abuja after a brief illness, according to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed.

A respected economist, diplomat and administrator, the late Alhaji held several strategic positions in public service during a distinguished career that spanned decades. He was widely regarded for his contributions to economic policy, governance and national development.

Reacting to the news of his passing, Governor Radda said Nigeria had lost an exceptional statesman whose life was devoted to selfless service.

“Today, Nigeria has lost one of its finest public servants, Sokoto has lost an illustrious son, and our nation has lost a statesman whose life was defined by integrity, service, and patriotism.”

The governor described the late elder statesman as an accomplished economist, distinguished diplomat and patriotic Nigerian who served the country with honour in several critical national assignments.

He said Abubakar Alhaji’s wisdom, humility and unwavering commitment to public service earned him the admiration and respect of Nigerians across the country.

“Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji was a remarkable leader whose wisdom, humility, and commitment to public service earned him the respect of Nigerians from all walks of life.”

Governor Radda noted that the late Sardaunan Sokoto dedicated his life to the service of Nigeria and the development of Sokoto State, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, excellence and selfless leadership.

According to him, the former finance minister remained steadfast in promoting nation-building, good governance and the welfare of Nigerians throughout his career.

“Throughout his distinguished career, he remained committed to nation-building, good governance, and the welfare of the Nigerian people. His passing leaves a great void in our national life.”

The governor said the enduring contributions of the late statesman to public service and national development would continue to inspire future generations of leaders.

“As we mourn this painful loss, we remember a life dedicated to humanity and national progress. His legacy will continue to inspire generations of leaders.”

Governor Radda extended his condolences to the Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu; the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III; the family of the deceased; the government and people of Sokoto State; and Nigerians at large.

He also prayed for Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive the late Sardaunan Sokoto, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family and the nation the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
