Zenith Bank Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening trade and investment between Nigeria and Canada by sponsoring the 6th Canada-Africa Business Conference held in Lagos.
The conference, organised by the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business, brought together senior government officials, investors, business leaders and a Canadian delegation representing 31 companies to explore investment opportunities across Africa.
Speaking at the event, Zenith Bank Executive Director Akin Ogunranti, representing the bank’s Group Managing Director/CEO, Adaora Umeoji, said Africa is well positioned to drive global economic growth through stronger partnerships and improved institutions.

He said the conference provided a platform to deepen commercial ties between Canada and Africa and unlock new business opportunities.
Representing Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Babatunde Onigbanjo, said Lagos remains a key destination for foreign investment and a gateway to African markets.
Canada’s Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Carlos Rojas-Arbulú, described the conference as a sign of growing commercial cooperation between both countries, while Chair of the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business, Paula Caldwell St-Onge, praised Nigeria’s expanding economy and Zenith Bank’s support for the initiative.
The conference featured discussions on investment opportunities, Canada-Africa trade relations and the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), with participants seeking ways to boost private sector collaboration, technology transfer and long-term economic growth.
